Peanut Chutney



When it comes to dosa or idli, peanut chutney always will be my first choice of accompaniment.  Not only myself all my siblings love this chutney as well.  Now u know where it starts from.  Every Sunday, for sure my mom will prepare dosa or idli for breakfast.  Just imagine every Sunday peanut chutney definitely will be there to satisfy our taste bud.  Actually my mom learn this recipe from my granny.  Even though i' ve   learn how to do it, but the original taste definitely from her.  Here's the recipe:

Ingredients :

1 cup peanuts (roasted remove the skin)

2 dry chillies  (may add more if you want more spicy)

1/2 inch ginger chopped

1 onion chopped

1/2 tomato (opt)

1/2 cup grated coconut

asafoetida powder.

2 tbsp anchovies

salt

Seasoning :

mustard seeds

1 dry chilli

curry leaves

Preparation :

  1. Heat oil in wok. Add 2 tbsp of oil.

  2. Add onions, dry chillies  and ginger . Saute till onions turn golden.

  3. Add anchovies. Stir until it cooks.

  4. Add chopped tomato, peanuts, asafoetida.

  5. Stir for 2 minutes. Add in salt.

  6. Add grated coconut and stir for 1 minute.

  7. Turn off  stove.

  8. Blend in food processor with adequate amount of water.

  9. Heat 1 tsp of oil in pan.

  10. Add mustard seeds , let it splutter. Add dry chilli and curry leaves.

  11. Add to the chutney.

  12. Peanut chutneyis ready!



Those on vegetarian diet, please omit anchovies. Add more dry chilies if you prefer more spicy chutney. Its so yummy!
